International Micro-Econometrics Conference - Social Cohesion and Economic Well-Being: Evidence Based Policy in a Knowledge Society - Thursday 22 and Friday 23 May 2003
This next meeting of a research network formed between several major European research centres in the fields of micro-econometrics and labour economics is to be held in Newman House, Dublin, on 22/23 May 2003. One of the principal aims of the group is to facilitate an exchange of researchers from various countries, to enable sharing of experience and expertise. The research is focused primarily on the systematic design and evaluation of policy interventions, dealing effectively with a variety of social and economic issues such as labour market programmes, aiming to reduce unemployment and upgrade human capital at the lowest cost for the taxpayer. The overall objective is to increase the knowledge available to the European community on the effect of policy interventions on the labour market. Future interventions can then be designed with this knowledge in mind, maximising their effectiveness.
